Uganda to Impose Life Imprisonment on LGBTQ People

Just after we posted about Arizona’s anti-gay bill, another, even more insidious anti-gay law, has come to international attention.

Uganda has just passed a new extreme anti-gay bill which imposes a life-time jail sentence for homosexuality, and also criminalizes anyone who promotes LGBTQ rights.  The bill has caused intense outrage from the international community, with many countries considering taking action to put pressure on the Ugandan government to reverse the bill.

Please consider signing the petition at allout.org/kill-the-bill to ask Ugandan and world leaders to protect LGBTQ rights.  Read more about the bill here.

  1. There was an interesting article about this law being a direct consequence of U.S. Christian evangelists influencing politics in Uganda. It’s a compelling argument and further highlights exactly why we should have separation of Church and State.
